Yet another snippet from that IY-cast-in-the-twenty-first-century story idea I’ve been brainstorming for a while. I don’t know why I’ve been doodling a lot of those lately—probably because it’s tied to the CG movie “trailer” I’ve been working on. I’d originally meant for this to be a doujinshi, but I decided to translate the idea into a movie instead after bumbling through my motion graphics class.

Anyway, this one’s rather sloppy as usual—nowadays I’m too lazy even to add borders to my panels. The premise is a glimpse into Miroku’s day as he goes through the school-transfer process. The glasses make a comeback—can’t seem to stop drawing him in those, because they fit his twenty-first century self so well—and I enjoyed drawing the poor beleaguered principal (you’d take pity on him, too, being in charge of a school with the entire modernized cast in it). If you notice the “Takahashi fingers” in the second panel, consider it a tip of the hat to the IY series’ creator, whose works I’ve followed since Urusei Yatsura.
