Anime Music Videos

So I just bought this cool new computer and it’s got something called “Windows Movie Maker” on it, which I realize is what I’ve heard people use when they make these things called “anime music videos”. Despite the fact that I knew next to nil about AMVs in general (except that they were fun to watch), I thought I’d try messing around with Movie Maker a bit. And then this thing came out, and then grew like some sort of impending calamity, eating up all my PC time and making me forsake all other computer-related activities (such as checking e-mails and CG-making). I now know why people like to gather seemingly random anime clips and go through all the trouble of setting them to music. All the clips used here were humbly borrowed from fansubbed episodes done by various productions.

Notice: To save space, I’ve zipped up the file using Winzip, which you will need to have to open it. If you can hear the file but see nothing but a blank screen, you’ll have to download and install DivX Player onto your PC.

My AMVs

Title? “Player”
Anime? Inuyasha. Of course.
Song/Artist/Album? “Don’t Wanna Be a Player” by Joe, Booty Call Soundtrack
Genre? Humor/Character Profile/Romance
Length? 3:56 minutes, including opening and ending credits
Spoilers? Not much. Unless you count the heavy usage of clips from Episodes 78, 93, and 118.
Summary? There’s every other girl in the world, and then there’s this girl Sango. What’s a player like Miroku to do?
Notes? I think I must’ve broken the AMV-Makers’ First Commandment by making this, and here’s why: I have a grand total of only around six subtitled Inuyasha episodes (damn you, dial-up connection!), plus a bunch of clips I either cropped from other eps or borrowed from the multimedia section of Yakusoku to Negai. And then I broke the AMV-Makers’ Second Commandment by using clips with subtitles (my eyes, my eyes, they bleed...). I only have Movie Maker 2, so I can’t crop ’em out. Oh, well. It isn’t like I’m out to win any con awards or anything. But if you can somehow overlook its flaws, I think it’s quite adequate for a first try. I mean, I actually tried to pay attention to timing and theme and stuff. And there’s actually some lip-syncing and a few frame effects. Starts out humorous and slapsticky, then becomes kinda wistful and fluffy at the end. It figures I’d make an AMV based on Miroku’s sort-of POV set to a song from an album named “Booty Call”.
Likes? The opening “glinty-smile” clip. The “Don’t wanna be a player/SLAP!/Don’t wanna be a player/SLAP!” opening sequence. The “I’ve had enough of running wild...” visual. The Miroku “Sipping Dom with the ladies all around me” sequence. All the “I’m yours/You’re mine/For sure” parts of the refrain. The next-to-last refrain where the tables are turned on Miroku. The montage following that.
Disikes? The subtitles. The subtitles. The subtitles. That pesky DivX watermark that keeps showing up at the lower right corner at odd intervals. The less-than-stellar quality of that single clip from Episode 69.
Download the AMV here; it’s located on Yakusoku to Negai’s “Multimedia” section. You can also download it from my Animemusicvideos.org account page here. Since it’s stored on their server, though, you have to be a member to access it.
