November-December 2003 / January 2004 Updates

1.14.04 :: Um. I lied again. At the very least, the new layout should be up before school starts. Hopefully. Anyway, brief update today: the “Ideas” page has been updated, the “FAQ” page has been added to (please consult this page whenever you have a question that you think someone else’s already asked!), some of the fanart has been fixed and all have been watermarked, a second preview for the new layout image is up on the “Upcoming” section, a link to the famous OFP has been added, and I got a new affiliate.

Thanks to everyone who sent me URLs to stolen artworks. I really appreciate that. Thanks also to everyone who sent me suggestions on how to protect my works; I’m currently contemplating using a script that prevents right-clicking on images. It’s a very drastic measure, and I don’t want to have to use that unless I feel like there is no other way. Incidentally, is there an English fanart protection guild out there a la Japan’s OFP? If not, someone ought to make one.

Oh, and to all those thieves I’ve caught (thanks to a lot of very cool people): I’ve got your names on my blacklist. If I ever see your names or e-mail addresses or ISP numbers anywhere art-related, I will assume that you’re up to your usual thieving ways and will react accordingly. And I’m sure I will not be alone in this. (You listening, Kage the Kitsune?)

Geez. For some reason I’m feeling more inclined to write than draw lately. I might make a wallpaper section using my slightly altered pics, but I’m still putting that under consideration. Also, still working on my e-mail backlog...

1.9.04 :: Okay, so I lied. Maybe the new layout’ll be ready on the next update. Or should I just put the site on temporary hiatus until it’s done. At any rate, I was gonna postpone this update until I finished with my inbox, but since I couldn’t, here’s the update, though I’m still working on replies to the e-mails from January 3-4. Yes, I am slacking off.

Also, here’s something odd. I won an Inuyasha fanart contest that I didn’t even know I’d entered in the first place. Apparently, it was sent in by someone going by the name ~*~Kagome~*~ . Ain’t that just a kick in the head.

I don’t think I have to tell you that I am sick and tired of this sort of thing; I just finished dealing with Fanart Central and now this. I don’t even think my artworks are that good, but I do not appreciate people peddling them around like that. How sad is it that they need my crappy sketches to—what, get recognition? What the hell is up with that? Do they want me to take the entire gallery offline?

All right, rant’s over...for now. Onto the updates: because of this whole thief business, I’ve branded everything in the gallery (it’s a flimsy attempt at protection, but it’s something). The incredibly late Christmas CG is now up in “Fan Art”, I have a new link up on the “Links” section, the “Ideas” section has been added to and split up into four parts, the “Upcoming” page has been updated with two new ideas, and the “Gifts/Awards” section has some gift wallpaper and a poem from the very generous Mishi Sama.

1.2.04 :: Well, the holidays are over and everyone’s leaving again, so I have to get back to my webmistress duties. There’s a second preview pic for the oft-postponed Christmas CG in the “Upcoming” page, the “Profile” page has some additional info, the “Ideas” page has some new stuff, the “Links” section has a new banner, the “Gifts/Awards” section has a new award, and I got another new affiliate: “Lecherous Monks Anonymous”, which you all should visit in order to be enlightened. In addition, I’ve added a link to an author’s webpage in the “Fan Fiction” section, as well as a brand new fanfic, “Kumo no Su”, which you won’t find anywhere else on the ’Net. It’s excellently-written, the characterization is superb, and it’s one of the best Christmas presents I’ve ever gotten.

Hopefully this will be the last update I make using this layout; I’ve begun work on the main image for the next one. As always, I’m still not done with my e-mails, but rest assured that I will get back to everyone who asked a question or needed a reply. It’s been a really hectic holiday season for me; I’m a big family person, and my whole family only gets together once every six months or so. Plus, I got a video game (an RPG, at that) for Christmas, which why I’ve been lagging more than usual. Also, I’ve noticed that there’ve been people snooping around the site folders. Sorry, guys, no secret images there. What, you want me to add some? ;)

12.25.03 :: Ack—I missed the deadline for the Christmas CG, so I decided to put up four new sketches in “Fan Art” instead. There’s a preview of the aforementioned CG in the “Upcoming” section, the “Ideas” section has been added to, the “FAQ” section’s been updated with info regarding requests, and for fun I made a new button in the “Links” page. Again, I’m lagging behind on my e-mails as well as my guestbook entries, but I hope you can forgive me for taking as much advantage I can of my free time by spending it with my family and friends (particularly my sister, whom I haven’t seen since her army graduation! Yay!). I promise I will get started on it tomorrow. On average, I get twenty e-mails a day—where are you guys coming from?—with some e-mails needing longer replies than others, so I hope you don’t get discouraged if I take a week or so to get back to you. This applies to guestbook entries as well; I promise to check it more often instead of once a month.

As always, I want to thank you guys for everything. Despite experiencing the downsides of maintaining this website (i.e., fanart thieves, impatient people, etc.), you always remind me that there’s more good than bad. Merry Christmas, everybody!

12.15.03 :: Short update today: added a few odd random facts to the “Profile” page, added to the “Ideas” page (oy, that thing’s getting huge), added details from upcoming CGs to the “Upcoming” page, added a link to a new Italian IY site in the “Links” page, updated the cliques pages with a new clique, and added to the “F.A.Q.” page (please check that first before you ask a question; I no longer have the time to keep answering the same query over and over). Also...I have “Yakusoku to Negai” as an affiliate! Excuse me while I do cartwheels. I adore that site.

Well, I’m done with all the e-mails (I think), so I’m getting started on the guestbook entries. My God, I am such a horrible webmistress. I’ll get started on those, as well as that Christmas-themed CG, as soon as I finish that last final project. I’m really looking forward to winter break now; maybe I can start a DeviantArt account of my own for both IY and non-IY artwork.

12.8.03 :: I liiive! I’m so sorry for being such an irresponsible webmistress for the past three weeks; I’ve been very busy and frazzled lately—I pay my own tuition, guys, and it’s kind of hard to concentrate on your site when you’re working like crazy trying to make that last payment (my school is freakin’ expensive), stressing over homework, and trying to uncomplicate your social life. I apologize, and I’ve begun typing up replies to the e-mails that’ve been sitting in my inbox for the past three weeks, as well as catching up with the guestbook entries, so please hang tight. Hope you understand.

Massive updates abound: I fixed some broken links (thanks to all who let me know!) and the “Fan Art” page has been updated with a new CG and a cool new fic for the “Source of Strength” sketch. Also, the “Upcoming” page has a new preview pic, the “Ideas“ page has some new stuff, and—gasp—there’ve been some additions to the the “Fan Fiction” section: four new smoking chapters for “If You Need Her” and an awesome new fic by Thunk (the fic section’s still closed, mind you, but I made an exception for the latter because it’s short and it’s very, very well done). Also, I have three cool new affiliates—“Silver Bells”, “Dearest”, and “Only You”! You know, I like this affiliate business. I may want more. Especially if they’re Miroku/Sango-related.

And...I’m going to make a new layout. Really, I am. As soon as I get that “Smooth” CG done. Or maybe the “Wings” one. I’m even gonna give myself a deadline. Late December. Yeah, that should do. Erk. Until then, I promise to update at least once a week. Despite my hectic life, I’ve been doodling a lot...

11.18.03 :: Um...so last week I’m sitting in this plane bound for Virginia on a trip I didn’t even know I was gonna take until eighteen hours before I boarded that plane, and spent the next three days in a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in South Carolina. For the rest of the week I stayed in my aunt’s new house, and it had a faulty phone line, so...no Internet. Until Sunday.

Anyway, so I log on for the first time today and check my inbox, and there’s, like, 112 non-spam e-mails. So I start on the first wave and now I’m feeling the onset of carpal tunnel syndrome, so I just wanted you all to know that if I haven’t replied to your e-mails from last week or even before that, please know that I’m going to be working on them today and tomorrow (much like the schoolwork I missed). Also, for those of you whom I write long e-mails to regularly—yup, you all know who you are—rest assured that I do have your e-mails, and that it’ll take just a little while longer for me to get back to you, so don’t worry. In addition, it appears that some of my reply e-mails from two weeks ago didn’t get through, so I’m going to try re-sending them.

At any rate, the “Ideas” and “Upcoming” section have been updated, and links to fanfics based on or involving some of the works in the “Fan Art” section have been added to its respective CG page. I’m really, really working on those CGs, guys; they’ve just been a little delayed thanks to my impromptu vacation.

Also, I know I should do this more often, but I just wanted to thank you guys for all the support you’ve given me. There’re times when I feel really lazy or discouraged or just burned out, and then I check my inbox or guestbook and come across an encouraging e-mail or entry or suggestion and all of a sudden I’m psyched up again and ready to draw something or update the site. I do try to answer to every piece of input I get (though I suspect some may have slipped through the cracks) just to let you know how much I appreciate them. Okay, I need to stop now before this gets too saccharine...but, you know, I really mean it. You guys are the best. See, now I’m gonna have to keep doing this stuff.

11.8.03 :: It’s official: I hate my Hotmail account. Or, to be more specific, the server that hosts my Hotmail account. It seems to be unavailable half the time I try to log on, and lately it’s gotten into the habit of sending me to an error page immediately after I press the “Send” button for my reply e-mails. I’m tempted to get a new address. Anyway, there’s two sketches in the “Fan Art” section (the format of which I’m planning to change since it’s getting a bit long), the cliques/fanlisting pages have been updated with a new fanlisting, and the “Ideas” page has been updated (I think I may have to split that up into separate pages as well). I’m working on three CGs simultaneously, so I think one should be ready by the next update. Hopefully.

As for the “Spiderwebs” shirt, it cost $22.00 at base price. Yeah, it is bit steep. Ah, but I still love it. Wore it to class and everything. Also, to the guy (or girl, though if it were the latter it’d be just weird) who didn’t leave a reply address and asked me to bear your child: you made me laugh. Boisterously. Unfortunately, I was in computer lab, and I must’ve looked a bit insane.
